Occupational Medicine Referral Clinic
Assessments of patients include a medical examination, chest x-ray and lung function tests where indicated. A chest x-ray is reported by a senior radiologist experienced in occupational diseases.
A final report is issued to the referring partner as soon as the case is finalized. Cases that qualify for compensation are submitted to the compensation office and followed up until they are finalized.
The following documents are required at first consultation:
- Referral letter stating the reason for referral;
- All relevant medical reports;
- Certified copy of ID;
- Detailed occupational history;
- List of exposures; and
- Material safety data sheets
A consultation fee is charged for patients from certain industries.
Chest x-ray reading and reporting is by an acknowledged experienced occupational chest expert (radiologist) with years of experience both locally and internationally for clinic patients.
Most recently the x-ray service has been extended to do x-ray reading to other industries on a per worker charge. Referrals for this facility can be forwarded to Sr. Buffel at +27(0)11-712-6420.
An occupational dermatology clinic is run once every month on a Friday. Please call Ms. Anna Fourie +27(0)11-712-6424 or Sr. Buffel at +27(0)11-712-6420 to make a booking.
